CEO of Atrium

We tasked Connect33 with assessing the Latin America software engineering talent market and help us think through where and how we might want to establish our presence there. To do so, they evaluated different countries to find the benefits and disadvantages of each.

During the research, they did a lot of in-depth analysis of each country, considering aspects such as engineer capacity, ease of hiring, retention rates, business costs, and business setup ease. Then, they came back with a recommendation on where we should think about setting up operations, as well as with the sequencing to do that.

Challenges

India — Atrium’s engineering hub, was getting increasingly challenging to hire in
Time zone alignment with the United States was a top priority for a number of Atrium clients
Faced with decision of opening an office in a single Latin American city or hiring across multiple cities
Needed to navigate the costs and time associated with pursuing entity creation vs. contracting model in single country or across multiple countries
Leveraged customized market intelligence-based strategy to arrive at a decision on their LatAm expansion strategy
Engaged with a local recruiting agency to hire contractors across Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, and the Dominican Republic growing and diversifying their engineering talent pool
Avoided the time and costs of creating an entity and 3-6 months to first hire
Improved time zone alignment with US customers
